Prof. Dr. İsfendiyar DARBAZ

He was born in Nicosia in 1985. He completed his primary (Güzelyurt Kurtuluş Primary School,
1991–1996), secondary (Şehit Turgut Secondary School, 1996–1999), and high school (20 Temmuz
Science High School, 1999–2002) education in Cyprus. He graduated from Yüzüncü Yıl University,
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, in 2007 with the distinction of “first-rank honors” earning the title of
“Veterinary Surgeon.” In the same year, he began his PhD studies at Ankara University, Institute of
Health Sciences, Department of Veterinary Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 2011, he successfully
defended his doctoral thesis entitled “Investigation of Udder Health and Milk Quality Parameters in
Dairy Cattle Enterprises in Northern Cyprus” and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
Following his doctorate, between 2011 and 2014, he worked as a clinical and field veterinarian and
also served in the European Union Livestock Project in Northern Cyprus. On 10 November 2014, he
joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Near East
University, as a faculty member. He was appointed “Assistant Professor” on 1 February 2016,
“Associate Professor” on 22 February 2019, and “Professor” on 9 July 2024. In 2019, he conducted
research and academic activities as a visiting scholar for four months at the Clinic for Obstetrics,
Gynecology, and Andrology of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Justus Liebig University, Giessen,
Germany.

His research mainly focuses on Reproductive Herd Management, Udder Health, and 3D Doppler
Ultrasonography. He has authored several scientific articles published in national and international
journals, presented oral and/or poster communications at national and international congresses, and
serves as a reviewer for various academic journals. He also represents Cyprus in the European
Society for Domestic Animal Reproduction (ESDAR).

He teaches courses in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and in the Veterinary Health Technicians
Program of the Vocational School of Health Services. Additionally, he chairs several faculty
committees and currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
