The titles “ONE HEALTH: Confronting the Complex Health Issues of the 21st Century, 2022” (ISBN: 978625-6945-00-5) and “Current ONE HEALTH: Evolution of Thought from Zoonotic Threats to Climatic Disasters and Ecotoxicological Issues, 2023” (ISBN: 978-625-6643-09-3, Duvar Kitabevi, İzmir, Turkey) have been released to readers.

These publications mark the first exploration of the ONE HEALTH concept in Turkish in Turkey, edited by Dr. Assistant Professor Rüştü Taştan, Ayşe Ak, Ayfer Peker, and Burcu Küçük Biçer. Covering a diverse range of topics across multiple disciplines, the books also feature contributions from Prof. Dr. Dilek ARSOY and Research Veterinarian İsmail Ahmet UYGUN of the Department of Zootechnics, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Near East University, as chapter authors.

Addressing a wide spectrum of challenges from climate-related disasters to emerging microbial threats, the decline in biodiversity and species extinction, to antimicrobial resistance and ecotoxicological issues, these works underscore the need for innovative solution-oriented approaches amid the complex interplay between human, animal, and environmental health. The critical and growing recognition of the ONE HEALTH paradigm among stakeholders is discussed in “ONE HEALTH: Confronting the Complex Health Issues of the 21st Century” within Chapter 3 of Part 1, titled “Human-Animal Health: One Welfare, One Health,” and in “Current ONE HEALTH: Evolution of Thought from Zoonotic Threats to Climatic Disasters and Ecotoxicological Issues,” within Chapter 15 of Part 3, titled “Evaluation of the Effects of Climate Change on Animal Health and the ONE HEALTH Approach.” These sections delve into the impacts of animal welfare, health, and breeding practices, alongside climate change on the production of animal-derived food products. Emphasizing comprehensive and solution-focused ONE HEALTH strategies for human and animal health, along with food safety and security, is highlighted as a paramount concern for the coming decade.

We extend our gratitude to Near East University for their significant contributions towards academic and societal awareness, representing the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in this essential discourse.
