The study conducted by the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine through international cooperation received the best study summary award from the Reproductive Research Association in the USA.

The award-winning work carried out by the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine with Vienna Veterinary University, Zurich University and Hannover Veterinary University aims to prevent puppy loss in dogs and to determine the treatment options of the mother after puppies abortion.

The scientific study carried out by the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine together with the Vienna Veterinary University, the University of Zurich and the Hannover Veterinary University to prevent the loss of puppies in dogs, received the best study summary award at the Congress organized by the Society for the Study of Reproduction (SSR) in St. Louis, USA.

In the study named “The change of the utero-placental immune environment in the normal and antigestagen-induced luteolysis process in female dogs” in the light of clinical and laboratory studies, the changes in the uterus and pup membranes of the dogs which had abortion were examined, and the development of treatment methods to prevent puppy loss and to make the next birth safer for the mother dog were intended. The study, which also benefited from the clinical experience of the Near East University Animal Hospital, was carried out in collaboration by Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Lecturer Prof. Dr. Selim Aslan and his European colleagues.

Prof. Dr. Selim Aslan: “Our work, which we have implemented with international cooperation, will be presented at SSR, one of the most important congresses in the field, to be held in St. Louis, USA in December, and will be introduced as the most successful topic during the presentation.”
Stating that the work carried out by the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in collaboration with Vienna Veterinary University, Zurich University and Hannover Veterinary University is still continuing, Prof. Dr. Selim Aslan said that his scientific studies, which include the first results of the study, will be introduced to the Society at the Study of Reproduction (SSR) congress to be held in St.Louis, USA in December and will be introduced as the study that received the “best international abrstract” award. It will be introduced before the start and will be exhibited until the end of the congress.

Stating that the aim of the study was to determine the differences between the changes in the uterus and the membranes of the babies between mothers who had abortion and mothers who gave birth normally, and to develop appropriate treatments. Aslan emphasized that these differences were revealed by both clinical data and special laboratory studies at the molecular level. The work was quickly accepted for publication in the highly influential journal ‘Animals’.
