2016-2017 Academic Year Spring Term graduates of the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine received their diplomas with a glorious ceremony held at NEU Grand Library Hall 4.
According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press & Public Relations Office of NEU, the graduation ceremony was realized with the participation of the Board of Trustees Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel, NEU vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, NEU Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Ömer Memduh Esendal, TRNC Veterinary Office Director Hüseyin Ataben, faculty deans, department chairpersons, faculty members, students and their parents.
The graduation ceremony began with a commemorative stand in silence for Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Turkish Cypriot leader Dr. Fazıl Küçük, TRNC Founding President Rauf R. Denktaş and all martyrs and followed by national anthem. The participants experienced joyful and unforgettable moments with the music recital performed by Ilyas Abdullina, teaching staff at the Music Teaching Department of Atatürk Faculty of Education.
Prof. Dr. Esendal: “On 20 September 2010, the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine began its educational life as the first and only private veterinary medicine faculty of the island, Turkey and the region that we are in”.
Addressing the attending body, the Dean Prof. Dr. ESENDAL underlined the unique position of the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. “With the responsibility of being the region’s first and only private faculty of veterinary medicine, Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine lives the honor of producing its 3rd term graduates. Since its establishment in the year of 2010, the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has been carrying out its functions effectively at all levels and offers quality education beyond the standards set by national and international bodies. Up to now, we have raised a total of 61 veterinarians capable to address to all challenges regarding veterinary medicine. Veterinary medicine education is a long-run and difficult education that requires diversification. In addition to theoretical and practical training, it covers slaughterhouse applications and off-institute activities such as farm visits, business visits and mobile clinic. We have the highest level of educational possibilities. We spare no sacrifices to raise highly equipped veterinarians capable to achieve a cutting edge career over the others in this competitive era. Our graduates are well equipped and admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine. They are committed to using their scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health and welfare. I wish them success in their professional lives.
Besides, I would like to take this opportunity and extend my appreciations particularly to NEU Board of Trustees Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irfan S. Günsel, to executives of the university and to the Board of Directors for supports and possibilities that provided for us” said he.
Following the speeches, the diploma ceremony was realized. The graduates received their diplomas after swearing the Veterinarian’s Oath together with the Faculty’s Dean Professor ESENDAL.
Faculty’s top ranking graduate was presented his diploma and gold medal by the Board of Trustees Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irfan S. GÜNSEL.
