
Yagmur Derman, PhD, DVM, completed her veterinary medicine degree at Ankara University and obtained her PhD from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Helsinki in 2015, focusing on Clostridium botulinum. He holds the Title of Docent (Associate Professor) at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Helsinki.
His research focuses primarily on Clostridium botulinum and botulism, with particular emphasis on the molecular characterization, pathogenesis, stress responses, diagnostics, epidemiology, and control of foodborne pathogens. He conducts research on the development of innovative approaches for the diagnosis, prevention, control, and epidemiological investigation of human and animal botulism. Public health and the One Health approach are also among her academic and research interests.
