Ali Murat Elagöz, PhD completed his bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics at Eastern Mediterranean University. He completed his master's degree within the framework of the international Erasmus Mundus program IMBRSea (International Master of Science in Marine Biological Resources). He completed his PhD in Biology at KU Leuven University, where he conducted his doctoral research on the development of the octopus nervous system at the Laboratory of Developmental Neurobiology. He serves as a faculty member in the Department of Aquatic Animal Diseases at Near East University.
