He graduated from Fırat University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1978. He completed his specialist training at Ankara University Veterinary Faculty Clinics on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture between 1980-83. He was appointed as a lecturer at Selçuk University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine. After completing his doctorate in 1991, he served as an associate professor at the same university from 1993 and as a professor from 1999 until his retirement in 2023.

He carried out educational activities at many universities such as the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (Pakistan), Utrecht University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Netherlands), University of Turin Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Italy) and University of Guelph Ontario Veterinary College (Canada). He carried out projects supported by European Union Research Infrastructures (FP7, Horizon 2020) at the NMR centers of many universities such as Masaryk University (Czech Republic), Wageningen University (Netherlands), University of Birmingham (England) and University of Florence (Italy) as a project coordinator. A project is currently being carried out under his coordination at the NMR center (CERM) in the University of Florence.

He also carried out national projects supported by TÜBİTAK, Scientific research projects coordination unit and BOREN. He has published many articles in high impact factor journals (indexed by Web of Science). He made presentations at many international and national meetings and workshops. His main areas of interest are omics, especially NMR-based metabolomics, boron metabolism and its effectiveness in animal health and diseases. He is the owner of National Patents named 'Boron vaccine' and 'Boron feed'.
