Department of Virology

The Department of Virology started its departmental studies within the body of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Near East University in the academic year 2011-2012. The Head of Department, Prof Dr Yılmaz AKÇA, previously Head of Department of Virology of the Faculty of Veterinary of Ankara University, now has been appointed the Head of Department. The Department of Virology of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Near East University has been founded with the support of the Head of Department, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz AKÇA, and other academic staff; Prof. Dr. Feray ALKAN, Prof. Dr .Aykut ÖZKUL, Prof. Dr. Seval BİLGE DAĞALP, Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Taner KARAOĞLU, Assoc. Prof . Tuba Çiğdem OĞUZOĞLU and Research Assistants.

Virology is the branch of science that deals with the study of viruses. It is the study of etiology, epidemiology, and pathogenesis of zoonotic viral infections.

As part of its undergraduate program, the Department of Virologyfacilitates the following theoretical and practical modules: Virology I, Virology II and Viral Vaccines.
