Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology

The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology started its departmental studies within the body of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Near East University in the academic year 2011-2012. The Head of Department, Prof. Dr. Sezai KAYA, previously Head of Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the Faculty of Veterinary of Ankara University, now has been appointed the Head of Department. The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Near East University has been founded with the support of the Head of Department, Prof. Dr. Sezai KAYA, and other academic staff; Prof. Dr. Emine BAYDAN, Prof. Dr. Ali BİLGİLİ, Prof. Dr. Ayhan FİLAZİ, Prof. Dr. Ender YARSAN and Research Assistants.

The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology provides detailed information on Pharmacokinetics and Clinical Pharmacology, which covers: protection from diseases and characteristics, effects usage and doses of drugs used for the treatment of diseases. The Department aims to raise individuals who are well educated on using drugs with a scientific awareness. Physicochemical characteristics of toxins, their effects, clinical and laboratory diagnosis, protection from toxins, and treatment for toxins, nitrates and nitrites, antibiotic residues, being intoxication, food toxins, insecticides and drug interactions.

As part of its undergraduate program, the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology facilitates the following theoretical and practical modules: Pharmacology I, Pharmacology II, Drug Residues in Animal Source Foods, Toxicology and Environment Protection.
