Department of Pathologhy

The Department of Pathology started its departmental studies within the body of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Near East University in the academic year 2012-2013. The Head of Department, Prof.Dr.Rıfkı HAZIROĞLU, previously Head of Department of Pathology of the Faculty of Veterinary of Ankara University, now has been appointed the Head of Department. The Department of Pathology of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Near East University has been founded with the support of the Head of Department, Prof.Dr.Rıfkı HAZIROĞLU, and other academic staff; Prof. Dr. Osman KUTSAL, Prof. Dr. Sevil ATALAY VURAL and Research Assistants.

Pathology is the science that deals with the causes and effects of diseases. In the NEU Department of Pathology, animal corpses, either brought by the owner of the animal or sent by the Faculty of Clinical Sciences are examined carefully; their internal organs, aspirates, aborted siblings, tumour biopsy material and alike are examined pathomorphologically (macroscopically) and histopathologically (light microscopically)- to diagnose reason of death and illness. In short, Department of Pathology provides support to the diagnosis and treatment of animal diseases for the benefit of; animals owners, clinical sciences and to animal keepers of the country.

As part of its undergraduate program, the Department of Pathology facilitates the following theoretical and practical modules: Pathology I, Pathology II, Pathology III, Necropsy and Techniques of Pathology Diagnosis.
