Department of Parasitology

The Department of Parasitology started its departmental studies within the body of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Near East University in the academic year 2012-2013. The Head of Department, Prof. Dr. Zafer KARAER, previously Head of Department of Parasitology of the Faculty of Veterinary of Ankara University, now has been appointed the Head of Department. The Department of Parasitology of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Near East University has been founded with the support of the Head of Department, Prof. Dr. Zafer KARAER, and other academic staff; Prof. Dr. Ahmet DOĞANAY, Prof. Dr. Ayşe ÇAKMAK, Prof. Dr. Hatice ÖGE, Prof. Dr. Semih ÖGE, Prof. Dr. Oğuz SARIMEHMETOĞLU, Prof. Dr. Bahadır GÖNENÇ, Prof. Dr. Serpil NALBANTOĞLU and Research Assistants. The courses in the department are still tought by Prof.Dr. S. Zerrin Erdoğmuş.

The Department of Parasitology provides detailed information on: Taxonomy, biology and epidemiology of internal and external parasites, the diseases they cause and their relative treatments, protection methods from parasites.

As part of its undergraduate program, the Department of Parasitology facilitates the following theoretical and practical modules: Parasitology, Helminthology, Water Borne Diseases, Protozoology, Entomology, Bees and Diseases, Aquarium Fish Diseases and Parasites Zoonosis.
